This collection of photographs explores classic black and white street photography. Of all of the subjects I’m drawn to, none are more challenging or the results more personally rewarding than the spontaneous capture of people in their environment.
In capturing these images, I am a player in that environment. I as a fellow pedestrian on the street, walking in the opposite direction of my subjects, my captures are taken quickly, and often but not always without my subjects’ notice.
All of the photographs were captured in the moment with a wide angle lens in very close proximity to the subjects, often only two or three feet. These images are my homage to the great street photographers who perfected the craft from the mid 30’s through the 70s.
